On the lighter side…

Still feel a little guilty about your coffee habit? You shouldn’t. Every day new benefits are being uncovered for this ancient brew, and it turns out keeping your brain healthy is one of them.

Three recent studies suggest drinking several cups of this superfood every day could protect you against cognitive decline, dementia and even Alzheimer’s disease.

Middle aged men and women who down three to five cups of java daily are 65 percent less likely to develop Alzheimer’s, according to one study.  Florida researchers say that three cups of coffee a day could also put the brakes on mild cognitive decline.  And women who consume over 261 milligrams of caffeine daily (around three cups of coffee) are 36 percent less likely to develop dementia than those getting less than 64 milligrams, according to scientists at Baltimore based Johns Hopkins University.

So stop feeling bad about your daily brew. If you aren’t caffeine sensitive feel free to down several cups a day. Just skip the sugar. Got a sweet tooth? Try stevia instead.

“X” here – DON’T try Stevia:

While I try to not get caught up in ranting about mundane things, we all have our “had enough” moments. In that vein, I therefore submit two videos which sums it up:

From Once Written

Why is the repeal and replacement plan so slow?  Because it’s a damn mess, that’s why.  And it’s just not the Republicans kicking the can down the road.  So, remember when all those liberals and the media were saying “Where is the plan?  There is no replacement plan . . . blah blah blah.”  If you have the fortitude to read, it’s all here.

Presently, I’m no little bit tired of all the obstructionists that have either forgotten, or don’t care to adhere to our founders concepts and the Constitution. We now have a man of action in the Whitehouse, not a socialist, Muslim usurper.

This LP by John Miles, came out on our Bi-Centennial (1976).  Enjoy the title cut, Music, and Pull the Damn Thing Down.

(Live version of Rebel, the studio cut’s clarity on YT is poor)

Rebel Lyrics

Not for me all the things you must do.
I am glad now that I can see through.
They say that I’m crazy, I’m out of my mind,
Searching for something I’ll never find.
Don’t call me a loser,
Call me a rebel.
No one said I must run in this race.
Always right, putting me in my place.
I know it’s not easy, believe in yourself,
You won’t find the answer in somebody else.
Don’t call me a loser,
Call me a rebel.
Call me a rebel.
I’m not one of the crowd,
The shout was so loud
No one hears a word they say.
I’m not one of the fools
Who are making the rules
And they’re changing day by day.
Call me a rebel.
I’ve got nothing to hide,
Just the feeling inside!
Don’t call me a loser,
Call me a rebel.
Call me a rebel.
Call me a rebel.
Call me a rebel.
Call me a rebel.

An overwhelming majority of Americans believe that cities that arrest illegal immigrants for crimes should be required to turn them over to federal authorities.

The poll shows that President Trump has broad public support in his effort to crack down on sanctuary cities.

“Americans support both comprehensive immigration reform and stronger vetting and reduced refugees — they want a mix of compassion, strong borders,” said Penn. “They see ISIS as the greatest threat to the country and that is spurring concerns about refugee migration.”

I know an All American veteran who had this to say on the issue:

“The idea of rogue government officials at state, local and federal levels supporting the aims and objectives of so-called “Sanctuary Cities” is totally at odds with the wishes of the majority of American Citizens —– 80% of all America wants something done about the growing menace of potentiality caused by the present level of illegals entering the country and squatting on their welfare-grabbing rear ends.

And guess what folks —- President Trump (whom many of the neo-communist Lib-Turds disguising themselves as Real Liberals hate with such passion) is the man in Washington who actually wants to do something to fix the illegal problem.”

I Concur.

I noted another blogger started following my page.  The site name is America On Coffee.  This was motivation enough for moi to visit the page, who, not being a “morning person” agrees with Garfield; (Give Me Coffee and no one gets hurt)  but I had checked the Gravatar first, discovering that the author had no less than five sites.

I went to the above named site; it covers much of “America When” so to speak.  This trip down “memory lane” was both interesting, and frustrating.   Memory, such as it is, often proves very inaccurate from the actual thing remembered.

Much effort on the author’s part is evident – including background information on the covered subject.  Very old movies,  T.V., songs, people… the time span is from the early 1900’s forward.  The only “downer”; this theme has one of those “endless scroll” features, and there is no monthly archive list.  Unless you bookmark the spot last viewed, you will end up starting from the very beginning.

Here is a soupcon of what you’ll find there –

Watch “Mack the Knife-Bobby Darin” on YouTube

Bobby Darin (born Walden Robert Cassotto; May 14, 1936 – December 20, 1973) was an American singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and actor of film and television. He performed in a range of music genres, including jazz, pop, rock’n’roll, folk, swing and country.

He started as a songwriter for Connie Francis, and recorded his own first million-seller “Splish Splash” in 1958. This was followed by “Dream Lover”, “Mack the Knife”, and “Beyond the Sea”, which brought him world fame. In 1962, he won a Golden Globe Award for his first film Come September, co-starring his first wife, Sandra Dee.

Throughout the 1960s, he became more politically active and worked on Robert F. Kennedy’s Democratic presidential campaign. He was present on the night of June 4/5, 1968, at the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles at the time of Kennedy’s assassination. The same year, he discovered that he had been brought up by his grandmother, not his mother, and that the girl he had thought to be his sister was actually his mother. These events deeply affected Darin and sent him into a long period of seclusion.

Although he made a successful television comeback, his health was beginning to fail, as he had always expected, following bouts of rheumatic fever in childhood. This knowledge of his vulnerability had always spurred him on to exploit his musical talent while still young. He died at age 37, following a heart operation in Los Angeles.

The Declining American (Lame) Stream Media!

I cannot remember the last time I subscribed to a newspaper or a magazine of any kind. – I know it was a long time ago now. And what is my reasoning?

(1)  First of all my neighbors three or four blocks away kept getting my newspapers delivered to their house and pitching them into the garbage. (They told me.)

(2) I started buying actual toilet paper and paper towels – but I do miss using newspaper in the bottom of my bird’s cage.

(3) I decided the actual mission of too many of these things is not to inform and entertain me but are intended  to sell advertising to their sponsors and to piss me off as often as possible with the Liberal drivel they tend to rely on.

The President has been calling some of the MSM, “Fake News” and “Very Fake News” and I believe most of the people in America – the ones with enough brain matter left to form cohesive thoughts – are tiring of the Media “Attack Trump” Mode and are turning off printed media big time.  Now lately I guess a lot of the same kinds of Americans (At least 50% of the population) are waking up now and understanding that a lot of their TV news coverage is using the same business model … advertising sales first, needs of consumers for accurate news last.

How much further technology has taken us; this development, being in the public domain means that these heinous experiments in reality, may have been going on in secret for twenty years.  How much longer will God tarry? Matthew 24:35-37

35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.

36 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.

37 But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

The thought of creating human-animal hybrids just for the purpose of growing organs which will be used for medical transplants is beyond disturbing. But this is what our scientists actually intend to do.

And just this week, the National Academies of Sciences and Medicine has released a brand new report that endorses the genetic modification of humans. The following comes from a Gizmodo article

“Today, the National Academies of Sciences and Medicine released a major new report and recommendations to ensure any such research done stateside in the future is performed responsibly and ethically.

The implicit message is that whether we like it or not, a future of gene-edited humans is on its way.”

Messing around with the genetic material of humans means that you are literally messing around with the future of the human race.

And once this genetic material starts being passed from generation to generation, it will literally be impossible to put the genie back into the bottle ever again.”

Matt 24:21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.
Matt 24:22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened.

Go into the Wayback Machine.  Back to 1974…  and home.  To a group heard on the local FM radio station.  This group had a large following; I thought they’d “break out”, but well… here we are, and I could make book you’ve never heard of the Bob Meighan Band or their  LP entitled “The Dancer”

I have this LP:

It was remastered, and the members have a website.  Here you can listen -and download- tracks from it.  My personal faves were The Story (Been In the World Too Long Blues) and Stormy Weather; Away Back Home and The Dancer. Especially Stormy Weather.

Don’t get your panties in a wad; this is NOT anything like the old tear-jerking country music associated with Hank Williams, (who always sounded as if his voice never quit changing) nor is it similar to other 70’s groups like Poco, or Marshall Tucker.

Scroll down ; you’ll find a thumbnail of their anthology; be sure to click on it, then on  Almost Saturday Night!

Starrider and Long, Long Way From Home were the first cuts I heard from this group, but it wasn’t until Foreigner 4 came out that I got to see them in concert.  The hit cut from that LP was Waiting For A Girl Like You; it seems to me that the band had “partied too hardy” the previous night; lead singer Lou Gramm couldn’t make the high notes of that song.  Nevertheless, they gave a good performance, especially with Juke Box Hero.  Much later on, the LP Inside Information, while not one of their best efforts, included Say You Will which has always been one of my favorite cuts.

“Midnight Blue” is the first single released by Lou Gramm from his debut solo album Ready or Not in 1987. The single spent five weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot Album Rock Tracks, starting on February 14, 1987, and peaked at number five on the Billboard Hot 100, Gramm’s highest-charting solo hit.
