Government attacks on Christians: The IRS v. CatholicVote

Attempts to interfere with faith based organizations by threatening them with their tax exempt status is not a new issue. Attempts to intimidate by threats of removing this status, Re the abortion issue, is not new.  Now we must present a united front to thwart these tyrannical efforts they relentlessly try to impose. “X”

It’s true.

The recent revelations concerning the illegal actions by the IRS
targeting conservative groups compel me to speak out.

In July 2009, the Chicago IRS office threatened the CatholicVote.org Education Fund.

The CV Education Fund is our 501(c)3 tax-exempt entity,
created to educate, inspire and mobilize Catholic voters. As you may know,
501(c)3 charities, unlike our sister org (CatholicVote.org, a 501c4
organization) are not permitted to intervene in any political campaign or to
oppose or support any political candidate.

We never did.

But according to the IRS, an unnamed source provided them information, including an email that we distributed prior to the 2008 election, which prompted their ‘examination.’

The email in question was titled “Barack Obama on the
Issues of Importance to Catholics” and it specifically disclaimed any
endorsement or approval of any political candidate.

In fact, our email did not even offer our position! Instead, we used actual Obama press releases and news stories to provide voters information on his positions on the issues of “abortion, stem cell research, contraceptives, and gay marriage.”

We urged voters to gather the facts, and ended our email with this line: “Let’s
have an informed electorate on Tuesday.”

For this, we received a lengthy letter with over 50 questions asking for everything from how many people are on our email list, bank account names, and our checking account numbers.

Yes, even our checking account numbers!

To properly respond to the IRS, we were forced to divert staff time and precious resources to pay for legal counsel. Over a period of weeks, we provided the IRS everything they asked for.

But we didn’t stop there.

As a part of our response, we cited the IRS code, which explicitly states that charities like ours are permitted to reach the public with a ‘pure issue message.’ Nothing in the law prohibits organizations like ours from informing voters about the positions taken by candidates for public office. Our 501(c)3 entity has never endorsed, supported or expressly advocated the election or defeat of ANY political candidate.

We argued that the IRS code is vague and standardless, and that no objective standard exists to regulate what might or might not constitute political intervention – thus opening the door to abuse. We told the IRS that groups like ours should not be subjected to arbitrary and discriminatory enforcement.

If they chose to fine us, we were prepared to sue.

The IRS ultimately chose to do nothing – they
backed down.

Why is this important? Because the IRS scandal brewing in
Washington D.C. suggests that their examination of the CatholicVote.org
Education Fund could have been politically motivated.

Were we targeted for our political views? Who and what prompted the IRS to investigate us?

Did their investigation have anything to do with our “Imagine the Potential” viral video celebrating the gift of life, including the choice for life made by Barack Obama’s mother that was watched by millions of people? This
video was released 5 months before we were investigated and received national attention including coverage on the front page of the Washington Post website.

Was the IRS investigation intended to intimidate us, or have a
chilling effect on our future plans?

We may never know. But we are going to do our best to find out. Reluctantly, we have decided to retain counsel to evaluate the IRS’ conduct and determine whether we can take action to fight back against this abuse of power. We want to know who induced the IRS to come after us, or whether that was a pretext, and whether the IRS or any government agency was attempting to thwart our lawful issue advocacy.

This is America. Something must be done to fight back. What we are witnessing in Washington is disgusting and shameful. We are better than this. Those responsible should be punished to the fullest extent of the law.

Thankfully we have thick skin, and some top-notch attorneys.

 The government is lying, the media is misdirecting, and for the most part - the church is avoiding the subject when they should be exposing and confonting the lies.

Ephesians 5:11 – “Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them.”

What is the government lying about? Most people are focused on them vs us sort of lies represented by partisan politics.  Obama lies. Bush lies. Romney Lies. etc. There are lots of  well documented lies of US Presidents and politicians. But those lies are just the tip of the iceberg. “What if” the fabric of lies and misrepresentation is much broader and it is bi-partisan and pervasive. What if the entire political landscape is intended to keep us divided and to distract us from what is going on behind the scenes?

Watch as Judge Napolitano asked such penetrating questions about government’s lies that his speech went viral and promptly got him fired from a major cable network.

What does the media not want us to understand?

“We are grateful to the Washington Post, the New York Times, Time magazine and other great publications whose directors have attended our meetings and respected the promises of discretion for almost forty years. It would have been impossible for us to develop our plan for the world if we had been subject to the bright lights of publicity during those years. But, the world is now more sophisticated and prepared to march towards a world-government. The supranational sovereignty of an intellectual elite and world bankers is surely preferable to the National auto determination practiced in past centuries”–David Rockefeller in an address to a Trilateral Commission meeting in June of 1991

What critical subject is the mainstream church avoiding and why?

“Christian’s in America are very naïve, they have little or no understanding of the realities of history. What happened in Nazi Germany, can easily happen here. In fact, there are many disturbing parallels between what is happening here economically, theologically and politically and what happened during the Weimar Republic.”

“This is how it will play out. You are beginning to see very quickly two kinds of Christians emerge in the United States and Europe. First, you will see an “Emergent Church,” that goes with the flow of humanistic secularism. In Nazi Germany, the term “Emerging Theology” was a term that was actually used. This will become the State approved Church, like the one Hitler approved of in Germany and currently exists in China. This type of Christian Church will be approved by a totalitarian state because it will empower that state through its complicity. Secondly, you will have the true Bible believing Church that will be persecuted because it stands for Biblical truth. This true Church will largely be driven underground as it is in China.”

The stage has been masterfully set for the great falling away.

Mt 24: ¹² “Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, ¹³ but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved.”

Some Christians, will turn in their faith, integrity, and theology for peace, provision, and power. The vatican has already endorsed the UN as the best organization to rule the world and gave them an “indulgence” to do the dirty and difficult work that must be done.  Many American Christians are counting on a pre-tribulational rapture to save them from suffering even though 1) Many Christians around the world are suffering persecution now and 2) throughought the ages Christians have suffered persecution repeatedly and regularly and 3) Jesus has explicitly warned his disciples that they would suffer tribulation.

John 16:33 “I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”

God has prepared a plan that the Church would be the light of the world, and that it will shine brightest in the midst of utter darkness. It is during this coming dark age, that the bride of Christ should be dressed in glory for the return of her bridegroom. We want to be like the wise virgins from the parable of the bridegroom in Matthew 25.

Matthew 25: 1“At that time the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. ² Five of them were foolish and five were wise. ³ The foolish ones took their lamps but did not take any oil with them. ⁴ The wise ones, however, took oil in jars along with their lamps. ⁵ The bridegroom was a long time in coming, and they all became drowsy and fell asleep.

Having Done All, Stand When people are confonted with new information and they become aware of imminent risk and mortal danger such as the threat of starvation and tyrrany, it is easy and natural to go straight into a fight or flight response. Some people wake up and then focus entirely on survivalism as the end goal. Self-reliance and Self-defense  are valid components of a prudent strategy, but not the primary focus of DurableFaith. Despite our discernment and best efforts, there will come a time for most of us when we will have done all and we simply need to take our final earthly stand of faith and not fall away.

My goal is to help believers and the church glorify God during the season he has placed us on the earth. This is our time. By understanding the times and preparing yourself spiritually and physically, you can make your Master proud when He does indeed find Faith on the Earth upon His return.

Spiritual preparedness involves prayer, sanctification, wrestling with ethical and lifestyle issues you may not have considered before. Physical preparedness will require honest risk assesment and prudent preparedness. Being a prudent christian prepper puts you in the good company of Noah, Joseph, and yes even Paul the apostle.

8th Grader Suspended & Arrested For Wearing T-Shirt With Image Of Gun

When 8th grade Jared Marcum got dressed for school this morning he says he had  no idea that his pro-Second Amendment shirt would initiate what he calls a fight  over his First Amendment rights. “I never thought it would go this far because  honestly I don’t see a problem with this, there shouldn’t be a problem with  this,” Jared said.

Student Asks About Bible – Teacher Gives Bible to Student – School Fires Teacher

If you think that schools are supposed to educate your kids, think again.  After nearly a century of liberal control of the public school system, they are nothing more than institutions of brainwashing and indoctrination.  They do not teach or allow students to think, reason and inquire on their own.  Students and teachers are only allowed to operate within the narrow guidelines established by the liberals to suppress any form of thinking, reasoning or inquiry that questions the norms that they have established.  Nothing else is acceptable.

Walter Tutka has found out just how intolerable to other views the liberal administrators have become.  Tutka has been a substitute teacher in the Phillipsburg, New Jersey school district for many years.

Last October, students at the middle school were coming into the building; they passed by Tutka who was standing in the hallway.  As one student passed by, Tutka told him:

“Just remember, son, the first shall be last but the last shall be first.”

The student just looked at him and said nothing.  Several days later, that student came to Tutka and asked him where that quote came from.  Tutka told the boy it came from the Bible.  A couple days later Oct. 12, 2012, the student approached Tutka while he was eating his lunch and asked the teacher if he could show him where in the Bible it said that.  Tutka pulled out the pocket New Testament he carries with him and showed the boy where the quote could be found in Matthew 19:30 and Mark 10:31.

Muslim Mob Desecrates Graves of Allied WWII Soldiers

Armed vandals attacked and smashed the headstones of Allied and Italian service members laid to rest in a World War II cemetery in Benghazi and then posted video of their desecration online.

The U.K. Foreign Office said that on February 24 and 26 hundreds of headstones in two British military cemeteries in Benghazi were vandalized. Markers identifying Christian or Jewish war dead were damaged or broken.

In video re-posted on YouTube the men (including the videographer) are seen kicking over or smashing headstones. One man takes a hammer to a ceremonial Cross of Remembrance.

Men are heard saying of the dead, “They are dogs.”

Church Defaced by Homosexuals Gets Little News  Coverage

St. Jude Catholic Church of the City of Westlake Village was defaced on  Easter weekend. The following brief story appeared in the April 11, 2013 issue  of The  Acorn, a community newspaper that serves Agoura Hills, Calabasas, Oak  Park, and Westlake Village in California:

“Vandals targeted the 32000 block of Lindero  Canyon Road sometime between Fri., March 29 and Sat., March 30, authorities  said.

“The graffiti included a reference to  homosexuality, several four-letter words and a swastika, a source told The  Acorn. One scrawl reportedly said, ‘God is gay.’”

The story got no attention outside the small communities mentioned above.

I happened to see the story because I was in the Los Angeles area for a  business meeting and happened to pick up the community newspaper.

If some homosexual group had been the target of anti-gay graffiti, the story  would have been carried by every news outlet. Hate crime charges would have been  leveled against the perpetrators. Sensitivity training would have been demanded  by homosexual groups across the country.

Any time someone makes a derogatory comment about homosexuality, the gaystapo  goes into action. The media comply with front-page stories to insure that the  person who said negative things about homosexuals never dares do it again.

The Huffington Post carries dozens of articles about politicians and  Hollywood types that come out in favor of homosexual marriage. They want to  continue to work in Hollywood. Their pro-homosexual stance is similar to what  Rome demanded of its citizens.

As long as the people offered a pinch of incense to the Roman gods, they were  permitted to worship their own god or gods. Consider this story about Polycarp who lived between AD 70 and 155:

“The emperors of Rome had unleashed bitter  attacks against the Christians during this period, and members of the early  church recorded many of the persecutions and deaths. Polycarp was arrested on  the charge of being a Christian — a member of a politically dangerous cult whose  rapid growth needed to be stopped. Amidst an angry mob, the Roman proconsul took  pity on such a gentle old man and urged Polycarp to proclaim, ‘Caesar is  Lord.”

“If only Polycarp would make this declaration and  offer a small pinch of incense to Caesar’s statue he would escape torture and  death. To this Polycarp responded, ‘Eighty-six years I have served Christ, and  He never did me any wrong. How can I blaspheme my King who saved me?’ Steadfast  in his stand for Christ, Polycarp refused to compromise his beliefs, and thus,  was burned alive at the stake.”

People aren’t burned at the stake in America; they are burned by the media  for any opposition to the gay agenda. At the same time, homosexuals are  protected by the media when they attack people who oppose same-sex sex and  homosexual marriage. Some of the attacks have led people to lose their jobs and  even be sued for not complying to homosexual demands.

This nation is closer to a Civil War than it has been since 1861.

Scary thought, isn’t it? Especially to those who have seen war and know from  personal experience what it is like. If you are older than 35, would you ever have dreamed that one day, in our lifetimes, our country would be reduced to this? Sometimes it makes me want to cry for America. It makes me want to throw a fit and smash things, rage and scream like a wild man. I want to grab my weapons, march to Washington DC, stand up in front of Congress and the president and say, “Now Look, this is the way it is going to be or by God, I will start shooting!”

Kind of childish, isn’t it? I didn’t ask for the crap that is going on today. I don’t want it. I am near 60 years old. All I wanted was to live out the rest of my days in peace. I wanted to live out those days in the America that I knew and loved, where one was safe and didn’t have to worry about what the government was planning to do to you.

So much for that. Life has changed, as it is supposed to. But it is not a good change. It remains to be seen what good can come from this state of affairs. The one thing I do know is that it is up to us . . . each one of us. . . yes, that means you . . . to bring forth whatever good can be found.

I am very proud of the American people. Well, not the democrats and libtards obviously, but the conservatives and the rank and file. Despite this crisis, we have not panicked. We have not run around in circles screaming, “the sky is falling” and wringing our hands. We have not gone off like drunken fools to shoot up DC and impose our will. We have been patient and tried to give our elected officials time to do what is right. We have been preparing, but one can never be prepared enough. And time is getting short.

I earnestly hope and pray that our differences with our government can be settled through peaceful means. I know many are speaking of open rebellion against the government, but I know of no one who wants to overthrow the American system of government, only those people that currently occupy that government. If our differences can not be settled by peaceful means, then I am one who advocates rebellion. Again, time is getting short.

Last night was the first night of the Jewish holiday of Passover. For several years I was the guest of some Jewish friends on the first night of Passover.

If you are a Christian, I would highly recommend that you attend a Passover seder if you have the opportunity. There is a lot of symbolic meaning for Christians in the seder that goes back at least 2,000 years before the time of Jesus.

I bring this up because I am reminded of one particular Passover that took place 70 years ago, in 1943 in Warsaw, Poland. There is, quite possibly, no more unequal struggle throughout history.

It was on the first night of the Seder in 1943 that the Germans began the process of attempting to liquidate the Jewish community which lived in the Warsaw Ghetto. Like many other persecutors throughout history, the Nazis favored assaulting the Jewish people on their holidays. Yet, the Passover spirit proved to be stronger than the Nazis, for the Nazis were not given the easy victory that they had sought. According to the Hagadah, “It is not only one that has risen up against us to destroy us. Rather, in every generation, they rise against us to annihilate us. However, the Holy One, blessed be He, saves us from their hand.”

Thus, in 1943, the Nazis were the ones to “rise against us to annihilate us.”

However, the Jews of the Warsaw Ghetto, inspired by the Passover story, rose up against the Nazis and demonstrated that a struggling community of half-starved Jews had the power to hold out longer than countries like Poland and France against the Nazis oppressors. “Imbued with the call of Moses, they too declared, ‘Let my people go!’”

“They took up arms, though no one gave them arms. They fought, though no ally fought with them. On this night of Passover, the Jewish birthday of freedom from oppression and slavery, they restored self-defense and power to the Jewish people. Not many of them survived. Thus, on this night, when God watched over us millennia ago, we honor the memory of the young men and women of the Jewish Fighting Organization of the Warsaw Ghetto with a pledge that we will never forget the gift of revolt against tyranny that they bequeathed to us and to all humanity.”

If war against our government does come to us, then let us look to these brave warriors in the Warsaw Ghetto for hope, for inspiration, for courage. Let us follow their example so that all may see that we fought against oppression and slavery. When our story is told around the world, let it be shouted to the heavens that we fought for freedom.

I’m making an open request for prayers;  not that I deserve them, any more than I deserve His grace. We don’t get what we deserve.  (hell) 

There are many reasons why grace is so amazing.  We are supposed to examine ourselves, be mindful, since -due to original sin- though we have declared Him publicly, as deemed necessary, we remain sinful creatures. 

Until His return the battle is continuous, and unending.  Life is fraught with pitfalls, the burdens of  this -I call it “bootcamp”-  life takes its toll on all of us.  I have for most of my life, found it difficult to put my thoughts on paper; in the world we knew as young men and women, before this infernal digital age came to be, letter writing was mostly a futile effort on my part.  There is much “in my craw” that needs to be resolved once and for all, so that I will remain strong in Him, and not provoke His anger.  Point blank, I cannot recall when I last got down on my knees and had a serious prayer session.

The biblical passage indicating that he “extendeth a good mans days”  has become a two edged sword for me.  As our redemption draws near, the times must wax worse, and (not wanting to provoke Him) I have no desire to have my days extended. 

If there is one thing I need now, it is to get back a heart of flesh, not have a calloused one; when I go before Him to give an account of myself, while in this apartment house we call a body.  I started this post with Ezekiel because I have the bloodline. Regardless of ignorant Gentiles who never read Romans 11, and think they have Jesus’ grace while hating Gods chosen; though I’ve been separated from my people because of parents from two different worlds, and have lived apart from them, I am a Jew.   

He is all around us.  I take His word seriously.  Far more than on one occasion I know -Atheists be damned- that it was His presence, and protection, that prevented me from taking a wrong turn.  Yet I have merely survived, and my efforts to better myself have been either thwarted, or deferred.  If  indeed, “hope deferred maketh the heart sick” then I qualify. 

Proverbs 13:12
Hope deferred maketh the heart sick: but when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life.

With few exceptions, I am uncertain of anything I’ve done that would have been of service to Him. I know it’s by grace, not works that we’re saved, but then, I’m painfully aware of this passage: 

James 2:26
For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

At this point, I feel like a fly speck on the plane of eternity.  The final curtain draws near; it’s a bit like racehorses coming out of the final turn, and coming down the home stretch.  I do not want to stumble.  We are told that we’re pilgrims; that our home isn’t here.  We will be home when He returns to set up His kingdom, here on earth. 

I hold onto that; this temporal life is an expert at beating people down.

It’s past time for you Americans to get it right and go state by state and fire these fools amongst fools and reclaim your Constitutional Conservative Party. How sweet! Many of us got booted off of TPN for saying the exact same thing….Romney was a Conservative and we fought tooth and nail against the OMG crowd. We were called Bigots and Obama supporters and other nasty names. Did the OMG supporters get kicked off for doing so? Hell NO! They had Judson’s right hand man…Vern Shotwell…send nasty private messages to us! When one sent in a complaint to Judson…he did nothing about it…except allow us to be banned from posting cuz we were offending some OMG crowd with our truthful comments. Our 1st amendment rights were violated. If they didn’t like hearing the truth and what we were saying, we got the boot!
The Tea Party is a joke now. They were infiltrated by the Progressives!

Ironically, I recently joined TPN; there were items added to my e-mail – I suppose due to other action groups with links to them-  which I felt compelled to comment on, on more then one occasion. Their insistance on a name caused me to enter “N-A” due to my insistance on privacy – available to view under the tab Constitutional issues drop down menu “Big Brother” and Government, drop down menu “Free Country?”. (those who have followed my blog are quite aware of my postings on this subject)

I wonder -my humble opinion- how many of us are fully capable of thinking “outside the box”; we’re all products of the previous generation,  fleas and all.  They, [now dubbed "The Greatest Generation" by Tom Brokaw] in turn, are  products of their previous generation, who remember the pre WWI world.  Men change the boundaries, and names of nations; God almighty’s word, speaks of us in tribal names, thereby we find an unbroken thread, regardless of  so-called “modern” mans idiotic accusation that the Bible isn’t relevant in today’s world.  

People are the same, regardless of how governments may alter the appearance of both the map, and  regions names. Old attitudes, viewpoints, prejudices, etc. remain more or less constant.  No amount of redefining the globe changes these mindsets. Original sin is the underlying factor, no matter what your region, race, or country. 

With that in mind, I appreciated the feedback recently received from the above, in comments on less recent blogs.  Some of the candor I found there was sometimes shockingly revealing, as well as enlightening.  This includes upaces88 who, to my surprise, is seven years my senior. 

Here are some prime examples of changing the map;  you may well be shocked at these, I barely remember the 1914 one; I first found an example of it as a pre-teen, in an old book of world maps my parents had.

Imagine maps of Africa, and the far east in 1900 when “great white hunter” had colonized everything. Remember a little country named “French Indo-China”?  Hmmm?   I expect plenty of feedback folks, not just from the outspoken few above! I know loopyloo will respond…

For many of us, the unthinkable has happened.

America has decisively turned the corner away from the constitutional principles of limited government and self-government with the re-election of Barack Obama.

There may be no way home for us.

For those of us who fundamentally reject Obama’s policies, things are going to get very rough for the next four years. We have allowed our fellow Americans to pronounce judgment on the nation.

That’s what Obama represents to me – God’s judgment on a people who have turned away from Him and His ways and from everything for which our founders sacrificed their lives, their fortunes and their sacred honor.

The nation is divided like never before – intentionally so. That has been Obama’s game plan from the beginning – to build a constituency of special-interest groups that truly believe their salvation is found in bigger government, more programs, irresponsible spending and unconstitutional policies.

This election could very well represent the beginning of the end of the American Dream, American exceptionalism, the American way.

But it’s no time to give up – to throw up our hands in disgust and walk away from politics. Neither is it time to surrender to the radical social agenda Obama has championed to win his victory.

It’s time to change tactics.

It’s time to double-down and fight harder.

It’s time to raise our collective voices of outrage.

It’s time to form new alliances.

It’s time to form new communities of people who understand just how much Americans have been disenfranchised from our God-given rights and responsibilities.

But, at the end of the day, people generally get the kind of government they deserve.

When you turn away from the ways of God Almighty, this is what you should expect, if you are a student of the Bible and history.

I’m not going to lie to you.

I think things are going to get very tough in America over the next four years.

I expect more division, more stratification, maybe even the disintegration of the constitutional republic that was the envy of the world for so long.

It’s time to hunker down.

It’s time to prepare for the worst – economically, militarily, socially, culturally.

The revolutionaries have won a major political victory.

The America haters are running the country for another four years.

That is not a pretty prospect.

But it’s not time to retreat. It’s time for those of us who love what America has been for most of its history to gather our wits and begin the long march back.

Most of all, it’s time for collective repentance.

Only a miracle can save us – and we need to humble ourselves before God and pray hard for one.

Can we find our way home? Is the political system even viable for us anymore? Has our heritage of representative government been permanently robbed from us? Are our cultural institutions – from the press to the schools and universities to the major foundations and even our churches – let us down so badly that there is no hope of restoring the America we once knew and loved?

I don’t know the answers to these questions.

But we must not retreat. We must not hide. We must not be intimidated. We must not stop fighting for truth, justice and the American way.

Maybe we deserve this punishment for taking our lifestyles for granted. Maybe we deserve this judgment for our own individual and collective sins. Maybe there’s still time to turn things around because we serve a Creator of second and third chances.

One thing is for certain: Our national condition is going to get much worse before it gets better.

We’re not a nation of Atheists, though that fraction of the population is no longer small. Wikipedia, a secular entity, has an article on “Demographics of atheism” which I note had categorized the results:

As such, topics such as the sower and the seed, and tares, were, of course, not addressed, though this excerpt was noteworthy:

The Canadian Ipsos Reid poll released September 12, 2011 entitled “Canadians Split On Whether Religion Does More Harm in the World than Good,” sampled 1,129 Canadian adults and came up 30% who do not believe in a god. Interestingly, the same poll found that 33% of respondents who identified themselves as Catholics and 28% Protestants said they didn’t believe in a god. Italics my emphasis – “X”

This of course, to those who believe, shows the percentage of tares among the above religious groups. Moreover, their numbers seem to be increasing, not just in Canada, but worldwide.

Hmmm… I still maintain that if we were “80% Christian”, we would NOT be facing the current situation, both in leadership and finance. Remember, Apostacy is among the last of prophecies that must occur before our redemption; it is now widespread.

Our system of government is USELESS without a MORAL public. An amoral public elects amoral leaders…
