James Dobson confirms slam campaign against his group

Family Talk founder says IRS targeted ‘tea party,’ ‘Constitution’ and  ‘Christian’

120916dobsonz

The Internal Revenue Service campaign that put a bull’s-eye on “tea party”  groups and those with “Constitution” or “patriot” in their name also took a  swipe at Christians.

That was confirmed today when Dr. James Dobson, whose has served as an  adviser to presidents and now runs Dr.  James Dobson’s FamilyTalk, said his organization’s status was threatened  because it didn’t present “all views.”

Dobson has been an outspoken lightning rod standing up for Christian values  for decades as an author, broadcaster, speaker and adviser. He has written more  than 30 books including, “The New Dare to Discipline,” “Love for a Lifetime,”  “Life on the Edge,” “Love Must Be Tough,” “The New Strong-Willed Child,”  Bringing Up Boys,” “Bringing Up Girls” and “Head Over Heels.”

He was an associate clinical professor of pediatrics at the University of  Southern California School of Medicine for 14 years and on the attending staff  of Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles for 17 years.

He has advised three U.S. presidents on family matters, and holds 17 honorary  doctoral degrees. In 2008 he was inducted into the National Radio Hall of Fame  and recently he received the “Great American Award” from The Awakening.

In a statement released through his FamilyTalk Action headquarters in  Colorado Springs, it was confirmed the organization was set up two years ago  “for the purpose of spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ, of providing  Christ-oriented advice and education to parents and children; and of speaking to  cultural issues that affect the family.”

The group’s Form 1024 was filed with the IRS requesting 501(c)4 status, which  is a nonprofit status but with permission to comment on political issues. Its  contributions and donations are not tax deductible to donors. It is not the same  status as the ministry itself, where donations are tax deductible, and the  arrangement represents a common setup for ministries that want to engage in  limited political activity on issues such as marriage, family, abortion,  same-sex “marriage,” civil rights and freedom.

FamilyTalk Action said, “The attorney completing this form had submitted  scores of similar applications over his 26-year career with none being rejected.  In January and February 2013, Family Talk Action’s counsel called the IRS  reviewing agent, R. Medley (ID no. 52402), to inquire regarding when there would  be a determination of the application. Her voice mail box was full on each of  these calls so no message could be left. On March 6, he called Ms. Medley again  and got routed to her voice mail again. This time, he was able to leave a voice  mail message and requested a return call.

“Ms. Medley did not call back until March 19. Family Talk Action’s attorney asked her when the IRS would issue its determination letter. Ms. Medley responded saying, I don’t think your Form 1024 (application for exemption) will be granted because Family Talk Action is ‘not educational’ because it does not present all views. She continued, saying that Family Talk Action sounded like a ‘partisan right-wing group’ because, according to Ms. Medley, it only presents conservative viewpoints. She then added, ‘you’re political’ because you ‘criticized President Obama, who was a candidate.’”

The organization said it had submitted sample radio programs after the IRS  had demanded them, although none was aired during an election year.

“It was the opinion of Family Talk Action’s legal counsel that these samples  were not only 501(c)(4) qualified but 501(c)(3) qualified,” the statement  said.

“Family Talk Action’s legal counsel had never heard an IRS agent express  biased statements like those he heard during the March 19 call. He also felt  that the this agent did not understand the difference between 501(c)(3) and  501(c)(4) entities,” the report said.

“The American people deserve better treatment from its government than this.  Christian ministries and others supporting the family must not be silenced or  intimidated by the IRS or other branches of the government,” Dobson said.

President Obama fired the acting commissioner of the IRS today over the war  against conservatives and Christians, members of Congress demanded that all  those responsible lose their jobs and it has been revealed that nearly 500  groups were targeted in the “don’t-disagree-with-Obama” effort.

Documentation suggests the attacks started as early as 2010, shortly after  Obamacare, which now is mandating that Christians in business violate their  faith and pay for abortifacients, was adopted.

IRS Insists That A Pro-life Group Talk Pro-choice values To Receive 501c3 Status

Posted  by on May 14, 2013

images (11)How can the IRS insist that a pro-life group talk about pro-choice options to receive 501c3 status? Legally they can’t.

The IRS is out of control and needs to be reined in. Many of us believe the IRS to be unconstitutional, and we know that they hinder personal and business growth. As Plato stated over 2000 years ago about the “income tax” that “the just man will always pay more then his fair share and the unjust man will never pay his fair share at all”.

We need tax replacement for many reasons, but one of the biggest reason is the control that they have over the American people. Story below illustrates it perfectly.

The Internal Revenue Service already has confessed to targeting and trying to injure tea party, Constitution and patriot organizations, by demanding answers to arbitrary questions and delaying their applications for a tax status so they could operate.

Now WND has learned that the IRS also put an organization in its bull’s-eye that wanted to do nothing more than share its pro-life message with churches.

Cherish Life Ministries was created to be a non-profit under the IRS 501(c)3 provision so that churches would feel comfortable working together.

Peter Shinn founded the group, because he already was working with ProlifeUnity.com, but as it did not carry the same tax code designation as a religious institution, some churches were reluctant to hear the message from its education materials.

And even more reluctant to participate, Shinn told WND.

The mission of the ProlifeUnity group is to “save the unborn and defend the defenseless, no exceptions, no compromise.”

It organizes pickets, works through email campaigns and takes “direct action” on the dispute.

So Shinn launched Cherish Life Ministries, a separate organization, to offer help to a coalition of churches that supports mothers struggling with unexpected pregnancies, promotes abstinence and advocates for an end to abortion in the community, state and nation.

“Our goal is to assist churches, organize and support a life ministry in defense of life and help function as an outreach to people struggling with unwanted pregnancies in the local community,” the site states.

Who Is Holding Whom Hostage?

Posted  by on May 15, 2013

101213_bachmann_tax_deal_605_apThere have been so many false narratives getting tossed around by the Democrats that it’s hard to keep up with them.  For a while the narrative was that the far right wing whacko Republicans are to blame for all your problems, and that’s why the House needs to flip in 2014.  Lately the narrative is that the Republicans are cowards who are afraid of Rush Limbaugh, and that’s who to blame for all your problems.  Instead of trying to chase down every narrative that they throw against the wall to see what will stick, let’s look at some data.

Heritage Foundation has an entity, Heritage Action Scorecard, that measures votes to see how conservative members of congress are. Since the Republicans control the House, one might think the Heritage Action Scorecard position on the majority of the key votes would be Aye.  This is not the case.  Most of the key votes so far have the Heritage position to vote No.  It’s not been conservatives that have been in control of the docket of key votes coming to the floor.  There is an inherent problem with placing too much trust in the No votes to measure how conservative members are.  Nancy Pelosi is voting No on these same floor votes.  You know what someone is voting against, but you really don’t know what they are for. One key vote the Heritage position on the vote was Aye occurred back on March 20th.

Bill: H.Con.Res. 25: Establishing the budget for the United States Government for fiscal year 2014 and setting forth appropriate budgetary levels for fiscal years 2015 through 2023.
Introduced by Rep. Paul Ryan [R-WI1] on March 15, 2013

Amendment: H.Amdt. 35 (Woodall) to H.Con.Res. 25: Amendment in the nature of a substitute sought to insert the Republican Study Committee budget proposal.
Offered by Rep. Rob Woodall [R-GA7] on March 20, 2013

This was a vote to approve or reject an amendment.

Result: Failed 104-132

Now the result is a very interesting number.  At the time of this vote there were three vacancies in the House, but only 236 of the 432 members voted. There were 14 Democrats who voted No, but their votes did not matter.  They could have joined the 171 Domocrats on the floor who voted Present or the 15 Democrats who were not there and didn’t vote.  The bill still would have failed.

The Aye votes are 94 out of the 168 Republicans who are members of the Republican Study Committee and 10 out of the 64 Republicans who aren’t members. Obviously there are those who join the Republican Study Committee to leave people the perception that they are conservative. There also those who hold TownHall meeting and interviews with the driveby print media and Sunday morning talk shows so they can be perceived as conservative. Don’t assume by perception.  Verify by looking at the vote result.

Discovering the details reminds me of something Ronald Reagan often said.

Politics is supposed to be the second oldest profession. I have come to realize that it bears a very close resemblance to the first.

Our elected politicians are comparable to major league batters in one respect. It’s more important how well you are batting and helping your team now than what your lifetime batting average is. Let’s remind our elected that they serve us, their constituents.  We don’t serve them.  They are not royalty to hold the power to bequeath us with royal pardons and favors. Conservatives should hold on to the principles of freedom and opportunity instead of going for a bidding war with the Democrats on promising to give away stuff.

Attempts to interfere with faith based organizations by threatening them with their tax exempt status is not a new issue. Dear CV Friend,

It’s true.

The recent revelations concerning the illegal actions by the IRS
targeting conservative groups compel me to speak out.

In July 2009, the Chicago IRS office threatened the CatholicVote.org Education Fund.

The CV Education Fund is our 501(c)3 tax-exempt entity,
created to educate, inspire and mobilize Catholic voters. As you may know,
501(c)3 charities, unlike our sister org (CatholicVote.org, a 501c4
organization) are not permitted to intervene in any political campaign or to
oppose or support any political candidate.

We never did.

But according to the IRS, an unnamed source provided them information, including an email that we distributed prior to the 2008 election, which prompted their ‘examination.’

The email in question was titled “Barack Obama on the
Issues of Importance to Catholics” and it specifically disclaimed any
endorsement or approval of any political candidate.

In fact, our email did not even offer our position! Instead, we used actual Obama press releases and news stories to provide voters information on his positions on the issues of “abortion, stem cell research, contraceptives, and gay marriage.”

We urged voters to gather the facts, and ended our email with this line: “Let’s
have an informed electorate on Tuesday.”

For this, we received a lengthy letter with over 50 questions asking for everything from how many people are on our email list, bank account names, and our checking account numbers.

Yes, even our checking account numbers!

To properly respond to the IRS, we were forced to divert staff time and precious resources to pay for legal counsel. Over a period of weeks, we provided the IRS everything they asked for.

But we didn’t stop there.

As a part of our response, we cited the IRS code, which explicitly states that charities like ours are permitted to reach the public with a ‘pure issue message.’ Nothing in the law prohibits organizations like ours from informing voters about the positions taken by candidates for public office. Our 501(c)3 entity has never endorsed, supported or expressly advocated the election or defeat of ANY political candidate.

We argued that the IRS code is vague and standardless, and that no objective standard exists to regulate what might or might not constitute political intervention – thus opening the door to abuse. We told the IRS that groups like ours should not be subjected to arbitrary and discriminatory enforcement.

If they chose to fine us, we were prepared to sue.

The IRS ultimately chose to do nothing – they
backed down.

Why is this important? Because the IRS scandal brewing in
Washington D.C. suggests that their examination of the CatholicVote.org
Education Fund could have been politically motivated.

Were we targeted for our political views? Who and what prompted the IRS to investigate us?

Did their investigation have anything to do with our “Imagine the Potential” viral video celebrating the gift of life, including the choice for life made by Barack Obama’s mother that was watched by millions of people? This
video was released 5 months before we were investigated and received national attention including coverage on the front page of the Washington Post website.

Was the IRS investigation intended to intimidate us, or have a
chilling effect on our future plans?

We may never know. But we are going to do our best to find out. Reluctantly, we have decided to retain counsel to evaluate the IRS’ conduct and determine whether we can take action to fight back against this abuse of power. We want to know who induced the IRS to come after us, or whether that was a pretext, and whether the IRS or any government agency was attempting to thwart our lawful issue advocacy.

This is America. Something must be done to fight back. What we are witnessing in Washington is disgusting and shameful. We are better than this. Those responsible should be punished to the fullest extent of the law.

Thankfully we have thick skin, and some top-notch attorneys.

You can chip in to support our effort here.

But at least now you know.

And you deserve to know that we will always defend our right to speak the truth, and to provide you and  every Catholic in America the resources they need to vote with an informed conscience.

Thank you, as always, for your ongoing support and prayers.

Sincerely,

Brian
Burch, Director
CatholicVote.org Education Fund

I’d post this on Jesters mace, but more people are aware of this pg. To borrow the name from a YouTube site, America is becoming “Insanity Island”. This from WND and the next from CLASHdaily.com covering this issue:

Pentagon moves to punish Christian evangelism in  military

Declares policy after meeting with strident atheist  activist

military

Mikey Weinstein has been on a crusade for more than a decade against  Christians in the military who speak about their faith with others, but now top  brass apparently are listening to him.

After a private meeting between Weinstein and Pentagon officials April 23, a  Pentagon spokesman declared, “Religious proselytization is not permitted within  the Department of Defense.”

The spokesman, Lt. Cmdr. Nate Christensen, added that “court martials and  non-judicial punishments are decided on a case-by-case basis, and it would be  inappropriate to speculate on the outcome in specific cases.”

Weinstein, according  to Fox News’ Todd Starnes, told officials at the meeting that U.S. troops  who evangelize are guilty of sedition and treason and should be punished, by the  hundreds if necessary.

Weinstein recently declared: “We face incredibly well-funded gangs of  fundamentalist Christian monsters who terrorize their fellow Americans by  forcing their weaponized and twisted version of Christianity upon their helpless  subordinates in our nation’s armed forces.”

In an interview with Fox News, Weinstein said the military needs to begin  prosecuting Christians who share their faith.

“Someone needs to be punished for this,” he said. “Until the Air Force or  Army or Navy or Marine Corps punishes a member of the military for  unconstitutional religious proselytizing and oppression, we will never have the  ability to stop this horrible, horrendous, dehumanizing behavior.”

Leaders of the Washington-based Family Research  Council, which recently faced a violent attack by a leftist who said his  goal was to kill as many people as he could, said the Pentagon’s apparent intent  to punish evangelism makes no sense.

“Why would military leadership be meeting with one of the most rabid atheists  in America to discuss religious freedom in the military,” asked  FRC President Tony Perkins in a Fox News interview. “That’s like consulting  with China on how to improve human rights.”

Retired Lt. Gen. William Boykin, a vice president at FRC, said if the policy  goes forward, Christians within the military who speak of their faith “could now  be prosecuted as enemies of the state.”

“This has the potential to destroy military recruiting across the services as  Americans realize that their faith will be suppressed by joining the military,”  Boykin said.

“Our brave troops deserve better. If chaplains and other personnel are  censored from offering the full solace of the Gospel, there is no religious  freedom in the military.”

FRC  has launched a petition urging the Pentagon to scrub plans to censor  religious beliefs.

The FRC petition states: “Our brave troops deserve better. Subverting the  religious freedom of our troops both hurts the morale of our troops and puts our  nation at risk by labeling courageous military personnel as enemies.

“I urge you to resist the demands of anti-Christian activists who are calling  for a court-martial order upon chaplains and service members who share their  faith,” the petition says.

Tens of thousands of Americans already have joined the effort, which was  brought about, according to FRC, because of claims that “religion is one of the  chief problems plaguing our troops.”

Some have said, FRC points out, that “religious proselytizing” is “at the top  of the list of problems in the armed forces – even on par with sexual  assault.”

The FRC noted the Washington Post reported that the Air Force had created a  document “with the directive that leaders of all levels (including chaplains)  may not ‘promote their personal religious beliefs to their subordinates or to  extend preferential treatment for any religion.’”

Ron Crews of the Chaplain Alliance for Religious Liberty told Starne: “Saying  that a service member cannot speak of his faith is like telling a service member  he cannot talk about his spouse or children. I do not think the Air Force wants  to ban personnel from protected religious speech.”

However, Weinstein told the Washington Post that such conversation is a  national security threat and “sedition and treason.”

Ken  Klukowski, a senior fellow for religious liberty at FRC, noted that  Weinstein cites Focus on the Family founder James Dobson as “illustrating the  extremist, militant nature of these virulently homophobic organizations’  rhetorically charged propaganda.”

Weinstein concludes: “Let’s call these ignoble actions what they are: the  senseless and cowardly squallings of human monsters.”

Kulkowski pointed out that Weinstein endorses the Southern Poverty Law  Center, which publishes a list of “hate groups” that lump together Christian  organizations such as FRC with the Ku Klux Klan.

As WND reported, the man who shot a security guard  at FRC headquarters, Floyd Lee Corkins II, confessed that he targeted FRC  because of information provided by SPLC.

Annoying that WND’s videos won’t embed. Here is the URL: http://www.wnd.com/2013/05/atheist-accuses-christians-of-treason-over-beliefs/#ooid=NsZzE3Yjo-M9zTIRq2guOZ7C5Hm7JgqS

Asked by the FBI why he picked FRC to attack, Corkins stated, “It was a, uh,  Southern Poverty Law, lists, uh, anti-gay groups. I found them online. I did a  little bit of research, went to the website, stuff like that.”

FRC said that when  Corkins later pleaded guilty to a charge of domestic  terrorism, the SPLC “was connected in federal court in this first domestic  terrorism conviction in Washington, D.C., under the post 9/11 law.”

SPLC has refused FRC’s demand to remove the Christian organization from the  hate list.

See  “Jihad in America: The Grand Deception,” which reveals the threat that is  hidden in plain sight.

In an FBI interview, Corkins confessed he wanted to “kill as many people as I  could.”

The U.S. government utilization of  opinions endorsed by the SPLC is demonstrated in a number of ways, including  the fact that the U.S. Army Reserve recently was found to be using a training  brief that slams Catholics and evangelical Christians.

Members of Congress were outraged.

“Our nation needs to have an honest conversation about religious extremism  and what we can do to avoid religious violence. However, labeling these major  world religions as extremists is wrong and hurtful,” said a letter by Rep. Doug  Lamborn, R-Colo., that was signed by dozens of other members.

The letter was addressed to Army Secretary John. M . McHugh at the  Pentagon.

“We call on you to rescind this briefing and set the record straight on the  Army’s view on these faith groups by providing a balanced briefing on religious  extremism,” the lawmakers said.

666 ALERT: Is the U.S. Military Preparing to Court Martial  Christians?

By / 2 May  2013

Screen Shot 2013-05-01 at 9.58.42 AMReligious  liberty groups have grave concerns after they learned the Pentagon is vetting  its guide on religious tolerance with a group that compared Christian evangelism  to “rape” and advocated that military personnel who proselytize should be court  martialed.

The Military Religious Freedom Foundation is calling on the Air Force to  enforce a regulation that they believe calls for the court martial of any  service member caught proselytizing.

President Mikey Weinstein and others from his organization met privately with  Pentagon officials on April 23. He said U.S. troops who proselytize are guilty  of sedition and treason and should be punished – by the hundreds if necessary –  to stave off what he called a “tidal wave of fundamentalists.”

“Someone needs to be punished for this,” Weinstein told Fox News. “Until the  Air Force or Army or Navy or Marine Corps punishes a member of the military for  unconstitutional religious proselytizing and oppression, we will never have the  ability to stop this horrible, horrendous, dehumanizing behavior.”

Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council, told Fox News he was  stunned that the Pentagon would be taking counsel and advice from the Military  Religious Freedom Foundation.

“Why would military leadership be meeting with one of the most rabid atheists  in America to discuss religious freedom in the military,” Perkins said. “That’s  like consulting with China on how to improve human rights.”

Tim Carney: Abortionist’s case raises troubling questions

Tim Carney: Abortionist’s case raises troubling questions | WashingtonExaminer.com.

“Raises troubling questions”… Clever phrasing. Exactly what makes this baby different from the other hundreds of thousands? This is not a rhetorical question. This issue is what sends all too many Americans into hiding. Prior to 1973 (Roe V Wade) There was no question about the sanctity of life.

How far we have fallen. I haven’t followed this case; however, the damned technicality, the only thing mentioned that is any different from the other abortions, in my opinion, which has called this “Dr. Mengele” into question, is that instead of killing the baby while inside the womb, it was birthed first. In this situation, the death of a mother is only part of the overriding issue.

This case ought to bring a final showdown in terms of America’s morality; – what little of it we have left- a begging question that has been swept under the legal rug for forty years: Do we have the will to reverse Roe V Wade? PERMENANTLY, without any appeal? Will we recognize that out of wedlock births will not be condoned or supported? Will we return to such things as Reverence, Chastity, and categorically refuse to give place for any debate on what Marriage is, since what it is , is a COVENANT, not a mere ceremony, instituted by GOD?

I’m a betting man, and I dare not give my odds on that. I’m feeling very tired… “X”

Kids Belong to Their Communities, Not to Their Parents

One of the key policies of a liberal progressive and socialistic government is to undermine the concept of the family.  They seek to destroy the cohesiveness of marriage and parenting.

They’ve been very successful in undermining marriage through the promoting of immoral sexual behavior.  Premarital and extramarital sexual behavior has been accepted as being the norm these days.  Marriage is no longer considered to be a covenantal relationship between one man and one woman with Jesus Christ as the center.  Same-sex marriages are becoming accepted and legalized and the Obama administration is trying to destroy the Defense of Marriage Act.  Marriage is considered to be a disposable union that can be thrown away when things get difficult instead of working things out.
