Spain is NOT Counting U.S. Election Votes…

…NEVER was, NEVER has.

There has been for 5-7 months or longer speculation that a George Soros owned company in Spain was going to count the votes of the 2012 Election.

Other sites have stated this as fact.

Those sites have stated it as “fact” for so long and so often that many, too many, are believing it without really checking it out from reliable and verifiable sources.

Those sites have actually railed and raged against this “fact”, that Spain (or some “outside” George Soros owned source) was going to count OUR Votes.

It simply is NOT true. NEVER was.

Now before you batten down the hatches and start freaking out, let’s dig a little deeper. Snopes and conservative authoress Michelle Malkin make quick work of the rumor and thoroughly debunks this mess. From Snopes:

The Obama administration could not possibly have “sold the processing rights of our votes in the general election” to Scytl, as the federal government does not run elections: individual states do. It’s up to each state to determine on its own how to conduct its elections and what voting systems to use.

Moreover, it’s highly unlikely any states will be choosing to use systems like Scytl’s to implement online voting on anything more than a very limited basis in the 2012 general election. Scytl’s current list of customers includes only four U.S. states plus the District of Columbia, all of whom have so far limited their use of Scytl systems to providing a means for overseas (i.e., military and absentee) voters to cast their ballots remotely… an article from Discovery News which notes that even on the rare occasion when online voting was used, it failed to work in some cases and those systems will not be revisited in 2012.

While SOE boasts of a presence “with 900 jurisdictions as customers in 26 states,” there is no single contract that the federal government has entered into, or could, with Scytl to count the 2012 presidential election votes. The above is not just from Michele Malkin but from “Human Events”, one of the oldest, absolutely most reliable, verifiable Conservative News sources period. Ronald Reagan read and trusted “Human Events”, as have I for over 22 years.

Next we have an article from “American Patriot Alliance”, a group founded and directed by a Conservative, and a Marine, Robert P. Dean, USMC.

So here are the FACTS…

1) Scytl IS IN FACT a company owned in Spain. In January 2012, Scytl acquired Florida-based SOE Software. SOE writes “election management” programs that assist officials with everything from “Internet voting to election night reporting and online poll worker training.” HOWEVER, it does NOT count each and every American vote. Scytl provides the software with which MILITARY MEMBERS, OVERSEAS U.S. CITIZENS and ABSENTEE VOTERS can CHOICE to vote through ELECTRONIC BALLOT.

Scytl specializes in “electoral security technology” and electronic voting applications. Its cryptographic research initially was funded by the Spanish government’s Ministry of Science and Technology and later was spun off as a private-sector e-voting venture.

They work in conjunction with not only the Defense Department, but Overseas Vote Foundation as well to ensure the fastest, most secure means for casting a ballot in a federal election. Is it 100% SECURE. NO. NOTHING over the internet is. HOWEVER, it provides a solution for U.S. citizens to DOWNLOAD and PRINT their ballot and MAIL it back to their respective voting jurisdictions.

2) Scytl is NOT owned by GEORGE SOROS, nor do ANY of its Board of Directors have ANY identifiable or confirmed connection to Soros or his foundations! Scytl lists the company’s investors as Nauta Capital, Balderton Capital and Spinnaker SCR.

3) Currently only EIGHT STATES (along with those working with DOD, have agreements with Scytl to use their software/services, those being: West Virginia, New York, Alabama, Virginia, Mississippi, Arkansas and Florida, as well as the District of Columbia.

I hope this lays to rest the unfounded MYTH that Soros/Spain/SCYTL will count OUR U.S. votes.
